HOLIDAY PARTY: LBD

During a recent meeting with a client, we were discussing December holiday parties and what to wear.  This can be a very stressful month, filled with all sorts corporate and personal parties, atrocious crowds, and expanding shopping lists. Figuring out what to wear to events and parties may only add to this stress, and it should not.  I thought I would take this week to share some tips and inspiration for dressing for your next holiday party.

I am a huge fan of bright red, green, or even a metallic dresses for this time of year, but I find that a little black dress is just as great, if not better!  This staple is a must for every closet, they can be dressed up or down, and can be worn during multiple months of the year.  If you select a simple black dress, accessorizing is key!  I will share a few suggestions later this week.  If a shimmering sequin black dress can be found, I suggest toning down the accessories and allowing the dress to do the work.

If you are shopping your closet and can not seem to find the right little black dress, here are a few suggestions.  These are also priced from $27.00 to $270.00, because you may still have a long holiday shopping list awaiting your last minute trip to the stores.

Happy Holidays!

FALL COLORS: DRIED HERB

Not quite as saturated as army green or as yellow as pea green, dried herb is the perfect color to add to your home and wardrobe this season.  Great with light gray, aqua, tan, cream, and brown.

FALL COLORS

During a recent drive to a client's home in Weston, I noticed that fall is truly upon us.  Days are shorter, the air is crisp, and the lighting has transitioned into an autumnal golden hue.  But the most noticeable change, is the vibrant foliage.  All of these reds, oranges, and golden tones have me thinking about fall color.  So in celebration of fall foliage and autumnal colors I thought I would share the top colors for this season.

CABLE KNIT: OBSESSION

As cooler weather starts to settle in, I find myself digging through my sweaters for cable knits.  This classic look is great for weekend errands or midweek in the office.  Below you will see an array of pairings, sure to inspire your late September outfits.  As you can see I tend to favor cable knits in white and off-white, but other colors are good too!

SEPTEMBER UPDATES

I recently read an article about Fall and how our culture treats the arrival of Labor Day weekend, and it really got me thinking about September and the end of Summer. It's sad that in August we are already influenced by images of pumpkin spice lattes and Fall attire.  I will admit that I get sucked into this spiraling frenzy for Fall, despite ninety degree weather and plenty of beach days ahead. Even though Labor Day is not the official calendar start to Fall, many consider it the transition into the next season.  Perhaps this is due to the first day of school, sending every store into Back to School/Fall mode.  Office Summer hours end and suddenly everyone feels obligated to "get back to work."  Morning commutes are jammed with blocked intersections and bumper to bumper expressways.  The first week seems like a bit of madness and in reality it is just like every other week before it.  However for some reason everyone considers Labor Day the time to "rip the band aid off" and get back into "go" mode.

So rather than focusing on all things Fall, I have decided to share all things September.  This is a great time to get outside and continue all of your favorite summertime activities.  The weather is typically fantastic; sunny, warm, and dry with a crisp breeze here and there.  This is a great time to hit the beach, because many have already packed away their beach chairs.  Destinations such as the Cape and Islands are still visited, but not jammed like they can be in July and August.  Pretty much any summer activity you can think of is great during the month of September.

With the start of school there is a feeling of returning home.  For this reason, I find many clients use this as a time to focus on updates, that they have been puting off since the Spring.  In celebration of September, I thought I would share a few interior design tips to help you prepare your home for the cooler months ahead.

Happy September!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGA!

Today marks an exciting day for the AGA Design Blog.  In addition to celebrating two years of blogging, I am eager to share my latest venture, AGA Design.  For the past several months I have worked with homeowners in and around Boston to create comfortable, welcoming, and stylish interiors.  I have helped my clients with kitchen renovations, powder room updates, staging for sale, and custom additions such as window treatments and decorative pillows.  No project is too big or too small.

I am excited to announce the AGA Design website.  I am still finalizing this exciting new addition, so stay tuned!  Thank you once again to my supporters and followers!  Every day seems to open an exciting new door and I look forward to sharing more during this upcoming year.

If you are interested in visiting my website or maybe working with AGA Design please check out www.againteriordesign.com or you can send an email to alexandra@againteriordesign.com.  I look forward to hearing from you!

SUMMER COOL DOWN: THE BLAZER

This is a great time of year to begin adding early Autumn pieces to your attire. One of my favorite transitional items is the blazer.  This timeless piece works well with shorts, dresses, and skirts.  As days continue to cool down I like to pair my blazers with pants and cozy sweaters.  Here is some late summer blazer inspiration, in anticipation for cooler days ahead.
