SEPTEMBER UPDATES

I recently read an article about Fall and how our culture treats the arrival of Labor Day weekend, and it really got me thinking about September and the end of Summer. It's sad that in August we are already influenced by images of pumpkin spice lattes and Fall attire.  I will admit that I get sucked into this spiraling frenzy for Fall, despite ninety degree weather and plenty of beach days ahead. Even though Labor Day is not the official calendar start to Fall, many consider it the transition into the next season.  Perhaps this is due to the first day of school, sending every store into Back to School/Fall mode.  Office Summer hours end and suddenly everyone feels obligated to "get back to work."  Morning commutes are jammed with blocked intersections and bumper to bumper expressways.  The first week seems like a bit of madness and in reality it is just like every other week before it.  However for some reason everyone considers Labor Day the time to "rip the band aid off" and get back into "go" mode.

So rather than focusing on all things Fall, I have decided to share all things September.  This is a great time to get outside and continue all of your favorite summertime activities.  The weather is typically fantastic; sunny, warm, and dry with a crisp breeze here and there.  This is a great time to hit the beach, because many have already packed away their beach chairs.  Destinations such as the Cape and Islands are still visited, but not jammed like they can be in July and August.  Pretty much any summer activity you can think of is great during the month of September.

With the start of school there is a feeling of returning home.  For this reason, I find many clients use this as a time to focus on updates, that they have been puting off since the Spring.  In celebration of September, I thought I would share a few interior design tips to help you prepare your home for the cooler months ahead.

Happy September!
