Recently I have found myself obsessed with high gloss paint. An entire room painted from floor to ceiling in a deep saturated glossy seafoam green or a refurbished piece of antique furniture updated with a vibrant coat. This obsession only intensified after a recent trip to the Junior League Showhouse where Gerald Pomeroy created a grand start to the event with his glossy Sitting Room.
Special attention to the walls is only the start. Looking up, this year's Showhouse also represented an array of inspiration for how to address your ceiling. No more ceiling white. In the Dining Room, Theo & Isabella used a metallic finish for their ceiling, and added a scene of flying birds around the chandelier. Upstairs, Sarah Scales created a whimsical and sophisticated bedroom inspired by the literary classic, The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe featuring a Brunschwig & Fils wallpaper on the ceiling.
High gloss paint and attention to ceiling design only touches on the spectacular design featured at this year's Junior League Showhouse. This week I will share inspiration for achieving this high gloss lacquered look as well as ways to elevate your ceilings.
This year's transformation of The Nathaniel Allen House is a sight to see. I highly suggest visiting before the show ends on June 5, 2016. For more information you can visit: www.jlboston.org/show-house/

Alexandra,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing our Butler's Bar space in this post! Tracy & I knew we wanted to do high-gloss paint on the cabinetry and all of the trim in the room from the beginning. We used a new 2016 Farrow & Ball color called Inchyra Blue. And, as you mentioned, we couldn't ignore our ceiling -- it was most of the wall real estate in our space -- so we wallpapered it the same as the walls! I love the images of all of the High Gloss spaces in your post that follows this one!
Thank you for sharing this interesting and informative article, painting with airless spray gun will be faster and more interesting!
