WEEKEND ACTIVITY: DISTILLERY OPEN STUDIOS

As yet another weekend approaches, the usual question arises...what is there to do?  For those in Boston area, I suggest a trip to the South Boston Distillery Open Studios. The event takes place this Saturday and Sunday from noon until 6pm, at the Distillery at 516 East 2nd Street in South Boston.  www.southbostonopenstudios.org 

Among the numerous artists and craftsmen who call the Distillery their workspace, is Lily Johannsen; a talented custom jeweler with an eye for  intricate and beautiful design. Lily is not only my friend, but a previous coworker who taught me a great deal about the world of interior design.  After studying at the North Bennett Street School, Lily continued to practice her passion.  Today her company, Lily Johannsen Designs, has expanded to local shops and etsy. 

Also be sure to check out Lily’s brother’s custom metal furniture, lighting, and motorcycles, Pete Johannsen VanAiken Design & Fabrication.  Lily and Pete share studio B3, so he will be hard to miss.  If you cannot make it this weekend, be sure you check out Lily Johannsen Designs’ website and etsy site: www.lilyjohannsen.com and www.etsy.com
